JUAN ARBELAEZ
Juan Arbelaez MD. FWCRS.
Dr. Juan is a highly experienced surgeon with a record of over 30 thousand surgeries.
He is presently Associate Scientific and Medical Director and Cornea and
Refractive Surgery Specialist at Muscat Eye Laser Center.
He graduated from Medical School in Colombia and specialized as an Ophthalmologist
at the Barraquer Clinic in Bogota. He went on to complete his Sub-specialty in Cornea
Refractive Surgery and External Disease of the Eye in USA and participated as a
Teaching Assistant in Advance Cornea Courses in the USA during 2014. Dr. Juan is a
member of several international societies (ASCRS, ESCRS, ISRS, Cornea, The
Refractive Surgery Alliance and the world college of refractive Surgery) and has participated as a speaker in International Meetings
in the USA, Canada, China, Spain, Singapore, Denmark, Portugal, Austria, France,
Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Dubai among others.
Dr. Juan is currently a trainer of Ophthalmology residents for the Oman Medical
Specialty Board and is involved with ongoing research in Cornea and Refractive
surgery. He has published book chapters and articles in renowned peer-reviewed
International Journals and serves as reviewer for the Journal of Refractive Surgery,
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Cornea Journal, Ophthalmology Journal,
and the European Journal of Ophthalmology. He has received international awards in
recognition of his contributions to Ophthalmology and has been awarded the title of Fellow of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences (WCRS).
